Teacher membership of aYs reflects a high level of qualification in teaching group classes in the tradition of T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar. Some aYs members are additionally recognised as being qualified to teach in an individual context, both therapeutically and developmentally.
Our standards are high and our teachers are expected to have appropriate knowledge and experience of this approach to Yoga.
For details of the training organisations we recognise as providing the required level of training:
Dr N Chandrasekaran (Dr NC) at Yoga Vaidya Śālā
AG Mohan and Nitya Mohan at Svastha Yoga
Gary Kraftsow at the American Viniyoga Institute
Paul Harvey at the Centre for Yoga Studies
Sheela and Ravi Shankar at Yoga Nidhi
However, not all these organisations offer comprehensive teacher training at all times. Therefore, in order to register you as a Teacher member of aYs, we shall need to see details of courses followed and certificates you have obtained. This is important in maintaining aYs’ quality standards.
If you have trained as a Yoga teacher in another tradition or have not followed a course recognised by the aYs, we would like to welcome you to join us. Please see details of our teacher recognition process here.
Membership of aYs offers:
Annual cost: £40
Student teacher: £25
