Cycles and Seasons 2 – Weekend Retreat Charney Manor
Charney Manor, Oxfordshire
5-7 October 2021
With Jane Slemeck & Hilary Norman
In 2018, Jane and Hilary led a retreat at Charney Manor looking at the fears and assumptions all of us acquire about the ageing process, particularly in Western societies. Our purpose was to explore how creative this time of our lives can be, and how there can be many different ways of viewing it. Yoga was the base on which we made these explorations.
What became clear after the weekend was that there was still a great deal to explore, and we all agreed that a second retreat on the same theme would be a good idea. (This second retreat is autonomous, however, and it is not necessary to have attended the first retreat in order to come to this one.)
As we did for our previous weekend, we would like to explore:
• Ways of working with the deep shift that many of us experience in the transition from our middle years to later life;
• How we can relax into our ageing, and develop resilience;
• How ageing can be a springboard for more conscious living and spiritual growth.
We want our time together to be a safe forum for us to share honestly our hopes and fears. There will be more silent time on this retreat – a chance to contemplate as well as discuss, with Yoga practice as a support for our work.
