Qualifications and Experience

1997-1999 - Trained as Yoga Teacher with Scottish Yoga Teachers' Association
2001-2004 - Viniyoga Britain/aYs Practitioner Training Course

About me

Began practising yoga in 1987 and was persuaded some years later to train as a yoga teacher. My first training was with the Scottish Yoga Teachers' Association (which changed its name a few years ago to Yoga Scotland, and which is now recognised as the governing body for Yoga in Scotland).

I became interested in the viniyoga approach after attending John Davies's sessions at the SYTA Annual Seminar in (I think) 1998, a two day seminar taught by Gill Lloyd around the same time, and then one of Paul Harvey's Open Retreats at Hawkwood.

I completed the VB/aYs Practitioner Training Course at the end of 2004 and have been teaching various classes and seminars since then.

I was persuaded to take Ranju's place as Director of aYs in 2006. It has been hard work, as the Association hs been going through "interesting times", but also rewarding as the hard work slowly bears fruit.

As of July 2009 I am no longer aYs Director. I feel that I have completed my role in re-structuring the Association with a democratic basis providing a home for all those interested int the techniques of "viniyoga". We needed someone with new ideas to take us forward on this sound foundation. My place has been taken by Sharon Lovell, who I know will do an excellent job, and I was absolutely delighted when she agreed to put herself forward for election.
