What is a "Sanga?"
A Sanga is a community of people who share and support each other in the pursuit of a common dharma.

News from the 2008 Convention
The 4th aYs Convention held in July this year was exceptionally well attended, with 138 participants. Peter Hersnack, who was our Plenary Speaker, gave 4 inspiring talks on Asana, Pranayama, Meditation and Teaching. Many participants who had not previously met him had the opportunity to work more closely with him in his workshop sessions.

Workshops, seminars and practice sessions were offered by a total of 16 teacher-members of the Association. 10 of these were post-graduates, who offered teaching which could be used by other teacher-members to fulfill In-Service Training requirements.

Throughout the weekend, a great atmosphere of warmth and conviviality prevailed. Old friends met up and swapped news and views. Many participants were attending for the first time, and new links were forged. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. For the overall quality of teaching, 70% of questionnaire respondents gave the highest rating of 5 (excellent), with 26% still rating this highly at 4. 52% rated the choice of workshops at 5, and 39% at 4.

Overall, the Convention was a great success. If you are not an aYs Member, and would like to have a similar experience at our Sanga in 2009, log on to our Membership page and find out how to join! We look forward to seeing you all again next July.

And in 2010, our guest tutor for Convention will be Srivatsa Ramaswamy. Wonderful prospect!
