About me

I first started yoga when I was 22. I knew it involved movement, relaxation and that there was a philosophy. I loved it and never missed, though philosophy was not taught in the classes I attended. The reasons I decided to start the BWY course were a) because I wanted to know more, and b) because I thought people (including me) should take responsibility for their own health, physical and mental. I came across Viniyoga through Mary Harris in the early stages of my BWY course and loved it instantly. My British Wheel teacher was influenced by Ian Rawlinson himself, and I veered that way in my teaching style. I did the Foundation Course with Paul Harvey in 1991 (there were no Stages I & II then)then did a retreat with him every year until 2000 when I started the Practitioner Training. I loved the way the Yoga Sutras were woven into practices and I loved chanting, both the Sutras and Vedic chant. I have also completed the Vedavalli Foundation Course with Howard Crosthwaite. This tradition feels like home to me; it is complete in itself and it makes me feel complete.
