TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMME (BWY accredited)
SADHANA MALA
with Ranju Roy and Dave Charlton
Starting in early 2009, this course runs over 3 years with 6 long weekends a year. These are either 3 or 4 days in length.
This course focuses on developing the skills to work as both a group teacher and also an individual teacher of yoga. It is a big commitment - almost 50 per cent more than the standard British Wheel of Yoga course, but we feel it is an excellent training which gives a thorough grounding in the philosophy, application and practice of yoga.
The Sadhana Mala Teacher Training Programme is currently the only course recognised by aYs (association for Yoga Studies) and it is in the process of being accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga.

Friday Dec 11th 2009: Axis and Form - Bodily Metaphors for Yoga's Deepest Truth Part 2
Over the last few years I have been running Friday workshops locally in Taunton. These have been a great way of meeting informally, sharing ideas and practices and developing all of our understandings of yoga. In 2008 I taught 6 days - 2 on Sound in Yoga and 4 on the Yoga Sutras (the last one is on Dec 5th). These have been well supported and very enjoyable.
My theme for workshops in 2009 is to help focus and clarify my understanding and teaching of Peter Hersnack. Many of you will know Peter - he was the Guest of Honour at last year's aYs Convention. For those of you who don't, Peter is a Danish student of TKV Desikachar. He lived in Chennai, India from 1970-75 when he studied intensively with Desikachar for 4 years. He continued to meet and work with Desikachar on many occasions since then and has worked on and refined his own teaching over the last 4 decades.
Peter's teaching has greatly enriched my understanding and practice of yoga. Although not necessarily easy to grasp, given time and patience I have found what I have learned with Peter to be a truly profound experience of body and breath work that is deeply rooted in the Yoga Tradition and the teachings of both Desikachar and of Patanjali.
I have often heard people talk of "the Source" and of "Authentic Traditions" etc. There is a huge amount to be said about this - but not here. All I'd like to say is that for me, Peter's work has an authority, integrity and the ring of authenticity - it is taught from the heart and has touched me deeply.
Each day runs from 10.00 - 4.30; drinks are provided but please bring a contribution to a shared lunch. These workshops are not for beginners but are open to anybody (teachers and practitioners) with an interest and some experience. They will count as CPD for BWY and aYs Teachers (5 points per day). Please let me know asap if you're intere sted as places will be limited.
Cost: £80 for each pair of workshops (aYs members £70)

ESSENTIAL YOGA SUTRAS
with Ranju Roy
Patanjali's Yoga Sutras is the key text for the study of yoga. Composed nearly 2000 years ago, it remains a shining treasure trove for anyone interested to explore the meaning & philosophy of yoga. Originally composed in Sanskrit, the sutras are not readily accessible, and although there are many translations, their content differs greatly.
In these 4 one-day workshops we will present a skeleton overview of the major themes of each book, inspired by the teachings of TKV Desikachar. There will be some time for chanting, asana and pranayama practice as well as discussion and group work.
Ideal for new students with a keen interest, as well as those who wish to revise or deepen their relationship with the sutras. They will count as CPD/IST.
