My Teacher Training Certification from Srivatsa Ramaswami
Submitted by Steve Brandon on Sat, 25/10/2008 - 09:38.Last November I went to Chicago to attend a Vinyasa Krama Yoga Intensive with Krishnamacharya's student, Srivatsa Rmaswami. Being with Ramaswami was an uplifting experience and I learnt a great deal. The asana he presents is, he says, the complete system of Vinyasa Krama as he learnt it from his Guru over 30 years. The principles are the same as 'Viniyoga' but the way it is presented is different from the Cikitsa model that Desikachar teaches. Ramaswami also stresses the other aspects of Yoga that Krishnamacharya taught; scriptural study, chanting, pranayama meditation and mantra.
Inspired after working with this devoted man and dear student of Krishnamacharya I went to India for a further period of Intensive study.
I have just returned from Los Angeles where I completed five weeks of intensive study at Loyola Marymount University. I have now completed over 300 hours of study with Ramaswami and have been certified as a Vinyasa Krama Yoga teacher by him.
I have recently moved from Yorkshire to Wells in Somerset. I will be teaching Vinyasa Krama in Somerset and Yorkshire in group classes, workshops, and 1-2-1 for those interested in exploring another facet of Krishnamacharya's legacy.
I have also arranged for Ramaswami to teach in the UK and he will be plenary teacher at AYS Convention in 2010.
