aYs IST/CPD provision
All teacher members will have received details of this year's IST (now called CPD - continuous professional development - in line with BWY changes). As you know we allow a fairly wide range of options, which includes two weekend events arranged by aYs. Uptake of the March event was so low that it has been cancelled. Bookings for the September event are also currently very low.
What do you want us to do about provision of CPD? This is important, as we have to take decisions about 2009, and have to take account of the new BWY requirement of 15 hours CPD per year.
In the list below, please tick any question to which your answer is "yes". If you have any further comments, or suggestions for CPD topics, please add your comment below the poll. Alternatively, if you are shy about putting your thoughts on public view, why not email me (margo@ays.org.uk)?

CPD events
Personally, I would prefer to attend an aYs CPD event than a BWY one, so I would like to see them continue, offering a mixture of one and two day events. However, I think people should be free to choose aYs or BWY, and if it helps to keep the aYs events running I think they should be open to teachers other than aYs teacher-members, but perphaps at a different price.
Would it be possible to flag up CPD events on the website to give them more prominence. I may have missed something, but it is not clear from the Website which events qualify as CPD events. Presumably BWY accredited training courses count as CPD, does the Convention? There are many interesting workshops listed, by county, but do any of them qualify at CPD days or are there just the two mentioned in March and September?
I would support the 15 hours requirement of CPD per year for teacher members to bring aYs in line with the BWY, but allow people to complete this through either aYs/ BWY events.
CPD Events - Convention
HI Julie
Yes, attendance at this years Convention does count as as CPD if you take the CPD options and attend all the plenary sessions.
Are you thinking of joining us at the Convention?
If you need any more information do drop me a line.

Julie, Many thanks for your contribution. Hope you also voted!
The full details of what is acceptable to aYs as CPD is set out in our CPD leaflet and application form. Eventually we hope to have a members' download page (with a link from the front page) where such info will be readily available, but at present you will find the CPD leaflet in the members' forum.
Basically, any event which is intended mainly for yoga teachers, and is taught by people within the Krishnamacharya/Desikachar tradition is acceptable. That means that any seminar open to general yoga students may not qualify. If in doubt, please ask.
Hope this helps answer your queries.
